Moores Mill Road #1, Huntsville, AL
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a dying Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Far median signal: 1 Safetran 12x24 inch light and 1 Safetran 12x20 inch light.
Near median signal: 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
The signal that has the 12x24 inch light replaced a signal with two pairs of GRS 8 inch lights (which I believe was knocked down). However, when the current signal was put up, it originally had two 12x24 inch Safetran lights. However, one of the 12x24 inch lights was hit and NS replaced it with a 12x20 inch light. This was also the last crossing on the NS Memphis District in Huntsville to have 8 inch lights at it.
They/Them for me, please.

They've been slowly appear on crossings around here as sections of gate arms (sometimes entire gate arms) get replaced.WRRS-Chicago wrote:Vertical stripes I see.
The other signal still has the diagonal stripes.
They/Them for me, please.

Re: Moores Mill Road #1, Huntsville, AL
*originally recorded on 12-1-18*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Far median signal: 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Near median signal: 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Since I had last recorded a train at this crossing, the signal on the right had gotten destroyed and replaced with an old SOU-era signal from the NS Memphis District West End in Mississippi. The far signal also had the dying Safetran mechanical bell it had replaced at around the same time. Both bells here unsurprisingly turned out to be Type 3s, but a bit surprisingly was the fact that the new gate lights are incandescent, along with the gate lights on the far signal having been replaced with more incandescent gate lights! The "new" signal features one pair of Safetran 12x20s that were reused from the old signal, while the other pair are much newer. Speaking of the lights, the "new" signal has also had them mounted off-center from the mast, likely to try and keep drivers from clipping the lights as they speed past. The base also had the damaged cover on it replaced with a SERRMI cover since I was last here.

This was the third crossing I chased NS 363 to. 363 was making pretty good time as it basically didn't encounter any eastbounds until it got to Decatur, so I wanted to make sure I could beat it here, as NS is due to upgrade this crossing at some point.
Since I last filmed this crossing, NS has replaced all of the gate lights here with RECO LEDs, though I didn't entirely realize it until just now when I'm writing this description, lol. The bell on the far signal now also rings until the gates rise, which kind of reminds me of how Australian crossings typically are (or at least were). No other changes to this crossing yet though, which is nice to see.
