Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, 1 pair of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, and a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs.

I decided to record this crossing from the other side this time around.

Other than some new foundations for an upcoming upgrade, no changes to report here as of 3-18-19:

Looks like the upgrade will feature more pedestrian gates though.

Signal on the left: 4 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After class today, I decided to head out to Athens to at least get this crossing documented for the site, since I knew that it had been upgraded a little while back. On my way out to Athens though, I decided to swing by the south end of Athens siding, and, much to my surprise, there was a green signal for a northbound!
Got up here and was getting set-up, when a small group of people walked by, and one of them asked what I was doing, to which I told them I was going to film a train here. As they were crossing the tracks, they yelled back at me that the train was coming, and, sure enough, it was! This was my first catch of the day, and my least favorite, a northbound intermodal train with a newer CSX ES44AH in YN3b pulling and an older CSX ES44AH in YN3 pushing.

As you can see, in the six months between March and now, CSX has upgraded this crossing to a set of brand-new gated signals, now being the second crossing in the state to feature pedestrian gates! If you've been following CameraBryan here on YouTube, you'll know that this upgrade's been finished for a while now, but I only just now got back out here to get it documented.
One of the more unusual things to occur during the upgrade though, which you'll probably know about if you had been following CameraBryan's videos, is that between the time of the right-hand cantilever being replaced and CSX cutting in the new relay case (and installing the gate arms at about the same time), the right-hand cantilever had the GS Type 1 from the old signals re-used on it, before the NEG e-bell on the far cantilever was activated. I'm not sure why CSX chose to remove the Type 1 when cutting in the new relay case, but they did. I sure wish they had kept it though, seems rather unusual to keep this crossing at only one bell (especially since Market Street, which is just to the north, features two bells despite being a slightly smaller crossing).
The gate lights here are also a bit of an unusual mixture of RECO LEDs and NEG LEDs. Personally I can't say I had ever seen CSX install any of the former anytime within the past few years prior to this upgrade. Thought they had gone to just strictly NEG LEDs now...
The pedestrian gates here are also decently long. In fact, I'm certain the gate arms for the pedestrian signals are longer than your average gate arm for a two-lane road!

No major changes here as of 9-3-21:

However, the right-hand cantilever's gate arm now has some large holes cut into the end of it to reduce wind-loading on the arm.

Still no changes here as of 6-7-22, though I did film it from the opposite side of what I usually film it from:

Seems the only change here on 10-9-23 was the replacement of a gate light on one of the pedestrian signals, which was miswired and now flashes with the middle gate light on that gate arm:
