Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Fading LEDs.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Fading LEDs and a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell.

This crossing is also the only gateless crossing on the NS Memphis District East End to have LED lights on it.

*originally recorded on 2-15-20*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, two RECO LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light.

On February 15th, I went out to go document a few upgrades on the NS Memphis District East End between Decatur and Leighton. While I was at this crossing, I noticed my first train of the day: a Decatur Yard job coming out of Decatur Yard with a pair of EMD SD40-2s, running lite. The train stopped, picked-up some cars sitting in Decatur siding, and then pulled into this crossing in order to shove back into the yard. Either way, it was quite nice to see and a good train to start the day off on.

This crossing was just recently upgraded from gateless signals to gated ones sometime within the past year or so, likely as a result of Decatur Siding being upgraded to CTC control. I had heard this crossing was recently upgraded to gates over Facebook, so I came over here to check it out. A bit unusually, NS mixed in an incandescent gate light on the closer gate arm. Not entirely sure why they did that, might've just had it lying around in the yard though. Nothing really too much else to talk about here, just some modern NS gated signals. You'll get to see what happened to the old gateless signals in the next video, though.
