*originally recorded on 1-30-24*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and WCH LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a GE electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and WCH LED gate lights.

After we caught the NS mixed freight, we hung around in York for a bit longer in case anything else would come through, but nothing else seemed to be in the area so we decided to continue on west as I wanted to get at least one crossing in Mississippi filmed. After snagging some food in Meridian, we eventually got to this crossing on the CPKC Meridian Subdivision just east of Jackson. After a little while of waiting, we were able to catch this eastbound intermodal train with a UP AC45CCTE leading a UP ET44AH, a UP C44ACM (Dash-9 rebuild), and two more UP AC45CCTEs for power. After this, we continued onto our hotel room in Ruston, LA, for the night.

This crossing is a rather nice one, featuring a pair of gated KCS signals installed here sometime between 2007 and 2013, replacing a pair of crossbucks. Sometime between 2016 and 2022, however, it seems the original GE e-bell on the far signal died and was replaced with the current GS Type 3 e-bell as a result. Thankfully, since then, no further changes have occurred to these signals, and the only GE e-bell on the Meridian Subdivision lives on. The lights here probably do need some work though, a few of the WCH 2nd Gen LEDs here have had the arrays come out of their gaskets, including the front pair on the closer signal, and a couple of them have some dead LEDs as well. Nice to still see a pair of older diagonally-striped gate arms here though, along with some WCH LED gate lights, the latter of which are generally pretty hard to find here in the southeast.
