The sale of the Florida Panhandle train route from CSX to RailUSA, slated to be complete this month, is off.

The route spans 373 miles of train lines stretching across from Jacksonville to Pensacola, among other cities.

CSX issued the following statement:

"CSX and RailUSA were unable to come to terms on a transaction for CSX tracks through the Florida Panhandle. CSX will continue to evaluate options for the rail line and will continue communicating with customers, union representatives and employees as we move forward."

RailUSA did not respond to media inquires.

CSX, a leading freight train provider, owns more than 21,000 miles of tracks and has access to 70 ports nationwide.

The company hauls a long laundry list of goods, which include grains, food, chemicals, pulp and paper products, iron and steel scrap and coal.
