and to add to irony i saw that locomotive pull eight cars about four weeks before the street view was taken and that's a good street view catch because the SJVR very very rarely runs down this stretch of track during the day they usually run between ten-twelve at night on Mondays with the occasional run on Saturday but there really predictable but sorry for getting of topic but i felt this had to be said
very lucky to live two-three blocks away from three teardrop bells. one of which i see at least once a week!

And plenty of shortlines also have them as well. A total of 2,222 GP38-2s were produced, not counting any GP38s that were upgraded and rebuilt into GP38-2s.NathanFromEngland wrote:I think they're pretty common on local trains.dan the ca railfan wrote:good to know.NathanFromEngland wrote:That is an EMD GP38-2dan the ca railfan wrote:grand ave has a train in the picture but i do not know what type of locomitve it is

Re: Trains on google street view.
GE switcher of some weight. Honestly can't really tell them apart, personally, though AFAIK, GE was the only company to make center-cab switchers like that here in the US.NathanFromEngland wrote:Looks like an EMD Model 40, though i might be wrong.dan the ca railfan wrote:what locomotive is this?
