I cant believe this is happening, first its Brightline, now SunRail wants to go quiet, how am i mean't to hear horns now, this is pathetic... I'm heading back in July, so now all i'll hear are just bells from the locomotives. :Awww: Guess my Downtown Orlando trip will just be ruined now with quad gates.

Also for proof, here.

Also, PLEASE DO NOT cause a political flame war, i want to hear y'all opinions.

I think it is bad and good.

Positive: It improves safety with quad gates, People cant go around gates any longer

Negative: No horn = More danger. They should keep the horn!

There's also the chance of people ducking under the gates. Along with those electronic horns its hard for people to hear them.

I'll never understand complaints about quiet zones. I can see where people are coming from, but I still really don't care in the long run if a train is required to blow their horn or not at a crossing.

Also, people would ignore the signals at a crossing regardless of whether or not it's a quiet zone, so there may still be some horn blowing.

Why can't they just make it partial? I mean, like no horn blowing from 10PM to 7AM?

Sigh... it's called a "quiet zone" but I guess I should expect less from the filmer showcased.

I'm indifferent on quiet zones. As a business owner, I would find the horns disruptive especially if the building I am in does not have the proper acoustics. However, train horns are a necessity in today's world because motorists and pedestrians alike seriously cannot take railroad crossing safety for granted at all. :glare:

But in your post you said "As a business owner"

Anyway, lets get back on topic.

How many quad gates are being installed? If its the entire SunRail network then they're ruining the fun, and maybe Daniel Andrews will come along and remove some crossings?
