Its just a locomotive... It can be replaced. Human life can't.

True, but it's certainly a disappointment.ToledoRailfan wrote:Its just a locomotive... It can be replaced. Human life can't.
Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Re: CSX Engine Retirements
CSX have sold 4688 (Spirit of Tampa) off to PRLX...
I seriously wonder if these Spirit locomotives will be put on CSX's newer locomotives or they'll just become near-extinct.

Re: CSX Engine Retirements
Probably near extinct. I doubt CSX really cares about having them unlike NS, UP, and AMTK with their heritage units. Though I'm willing to bet that CSX will also designate some new ones when they're through cutting locomotives.NathanFromEngland wrote:CSX have sold 4688 (Spirit of Tampa) off to PRLX...

Re: CSX Engine Retirements
They likely are, seeing as the one that was retired was wrecked.

Re: CSX Engine Retirements
According to CSX Locomotives, some people believe the wrecked CSX spirit of West Springfield looks repairable, In my opinion, it's false. Based on how bad the damage, I'd say they just scrap this locomotive.

For all we know, they may rebuild the locomotive.Ethan the Railfanner wrote:According to CSX Locomotives, some people believe the wrecked CSX spirit of West Springfield looks repairable, In my opinion, it's false. Based on how bad the damage, I'd say they just scrap this locomotive.

Re: CSX Engine Retirements
As long as the frame is alright, then it can easily be completely rebuilt from the frame up if necessary. The ES44AH was only just the previous generation of GE locomotive, and I think they can still even be ordered brand new as "Tier-4 Credit Units", so they can easily rebuild it as an ES44AH. Who knows though, it might get rebuilt as an ET44AH.NathanFromEngland wrote:For all we know, they may rebuild the locomotive.Ethan the Railfanner wrote:According to CSX Locomotives, some people believe the wrecked CSX spirit of West Springfield looks repairable, In my opinion, it's false.
