IIRC, the SD70MAC rebuild is a program that I believe CSX is experimenting with for their SD70MAC fleet.

Unfortunately, from what I understand, like the unrebuilt SD70MACs, the rebuilt ones lack the ability to lead a train with DPUs...
Why is that?
In order to be able to operate unmanned DPUs on a train, the lead locomotive has to be equipped to be able to do so. The SD70MACs (both the unrebuilt and rebuilt ones) lack that equipment, along with the AC44CWs, IIRC.

Rebranding (and pinning) this thread due to NS getting onboard this train, retiring their F Unit set and selling/retiring a whole bunch of locomotives recently.

NS retires their SD80MACs. Well... it's an end of an era for SD80MACs on NS. According to the post by NSDash9, six are sold to CP. But, i'm thinking, is CP gonna rebuild the SD80MACs they acquired from NS?

According to the comments on that post, they're parts units.
