Talk about other non-signal stuff here. Make sure to obey the rules though.

We've always called them tornado sirens. I know where most of them are in my hometown... here's a few I can think of off the top of my head:

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8164881 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7940779 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7684638 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7427423 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.77926,- ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7593533 ... 6656?hl=en

If you really want to see them all, the fire department conveniently has them all listed on their website: http://www.springfield.il.us/FireDepart ... enMap.aspx

Now for some history. The newer sirens above were put in between 2007 and 2008 after many the older sirens failed during a severe weather event in 2006. Many of the old sirens where taken down. Some of them were scrapped, some were donated to smaller towns. ( :TUP2: )

However... 3 of the old Thunderbolts hung on for quite a few years. Sadly, none of them were hooked up, so they are/were just sitting gathering rust. This one is still sitting today on an abandoned building: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7804435 ... 6656?hl=en

There WAS also a Thunderbolt on this building downtown just west of the state capital... up until a few years ago. It was was finally taken down between 2012 on 2014.

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8007314 ... 6656?hl=en

And... lastly this Thunderbolt still stands... again on an abandoned building. They've been trying to take these buildings down for the last several years, so it's days are numbered as well.

If you scroll through some of the older GSV pictures, you may notice that a few of the Thunderbolts are in different positions. Not sure how this has occurred as I purposely was near two of these during monthly tests of the new system (to see if the Thunderbolts also went off) and these sirens did not sound. Perhaps they are turning on their own in the wind? Or somehow they HAVE been activated at some point. Not sure how or why though....

Sometimes, people doing work on the roofs of buildings will rotate the horns on rotational sirens to get them out of the way. It's probably what happened here.
They/Them for me, please.

Used to be a 2T22 on this building here in Old Town, Bellingham, Washington. When demolition crews returned, the siren was gone.

Used to be a Model 2 on this building. Streetview went through when it was still up.

The fire station in Nugent's Corner had one on that block next to the building, but it's now gone.

Older Federal Signal sirens still exist in less dense parts of Whatcom County.

Model 5 on Station 69 (nice!). Laurel, Bellingham, Washington.

Lousy SV image because GSV went through a decade ago. Model 2 on old Fire Station in Squalicum, Bellingham, Washington.

Everson, Wa. Looks like a 2T without the housing.

Sumas, Wa; the siren is behind the Police Station.

Kendall, Wa; the only one I've seen on post.

Lastly, here's one in Glacier, Wa.
