HEAT!
We have a pretty big heatwave among us! Much of the nation (with the exception of the west) is experiencing temps in the 90s and 100s with heat indicies well into the 100s, 110s, 120, and in extreme cases, the 130s! Here in Albany, NY we hit 99 today. If we had hit 100, it'd have been the first time since 1950 we did so. I'm not sure when the last time we hit 99 was, but the last time we hit 97 was way back in 1995, so it's been at least 16 years since we've made it this high. Our heat index topped off at 110 today. We had gusty winds today too, but we referred to them as "blast furnace" winds, as they didn't make it feel better - they made it feel worse, as you just get blasted with hot air. Right now it's 93 and the heat index is 103. We're only expected to dip back to 76 overnight tonight, which will be a new record high "low" (i.e., the highest low temperature) for the 22nd.
Re: HEAT!
Yup... same thing happening in my neck of the woods. We've had an excessive heat warning in force since 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning and it doesn't expire until 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. Everyday this week temps have been in the upper 90's with heat indicies between 110 and 115.
I don't mind those types of temps once in a while... but 7 days in a row is a bit much.

Re: HEAT!
Just consulted a meteorology friend. The last time we hit 99 was July 14th, 1995. Apparently in that 16-year time period we neglected to hit 97 or 98...
