Flooding

Post by weatherdan882002 » Sun Jun 30, 2013 9:13 pm

We have a fairly large flood threat developing here. On May 23rd, we had a 2" deficit for the year. By the end of May, we'd made that up and were where we should have been. This month (including thus far today), we've had 8.68 inches of rain which makes it the third wettest June on record, gives us a surplus of over 4" for the year, and makes any downpour we get out of a t-storm wreak havoc with flooding since the ground is completely saturated and rivers at their banks. Over the past couple of days there have been numerous water rescues performed and people who have gone missing because of flash flooding. The damage is very extensive, in particular just to the west of my location and the sad part is, the wx pattern shows no signs of breaking anytime soon, which means we're stuck with the water for at least the next week! Here in town, we're okay, most of the rest of the region is just dealing with urban poor-drainage flooding, but where inches of rain have fallen and are expected to fall over the next day or so, it's gonna be a BIG mess.
