RSI has gone under
Well, we have another company that we can add to the list of defunct manufacturers: Railroad Signal International. I heard over Facebook earlier today that RSI was shut down recently, and their website (http://railroadsignalintl.com/) is also down now. Some maintainers are probably glad they're gone as their equipment was apparently rather cheaply built, and the employees didn't exactly like working there as well, based on these reviews (note how the good "reviews" are downvoted into oblivion?).
In fact, other than the one known installation of one of their bells, I can't think of any RSI equipment that's gone up in the last few years, which probably helped with their demise. Prior to that, several shortlines and light-rail systems were using their equipment at crossings.

They/Them for me, please.

Oh wow!
It now makes me wonder how much turnover their equipment has had wherever it may have been installed.

Re: RSI has gone under
It seems that most of the equipment they've had go up has been LEDs, and on the SCART system out in Sacramento, CA, a good number of the older RSI LEDs have been replaced with newer ones. Other than that, since it was mainly shortlines that used their equipment, I haven't seen much "turn-over", since shortlines tend to keep what isn't broken until it needs to be replaced.ZachL wrote:Oh wow!

Re: RSI has gone under
Just found out via Facebook that RSI was bought out by WabTec, who used to be WABCO prior to a merger with MotivePower Industries, Inc., according to their site. It appears they stopped making crossing equipment some time ago, but since they've bought RSI, they'll probably start back up with that.
They/Them for me, please.

Well that guy predicted the future!I'll be surprised if RSI is around in another year.
I also noticed that those gate light stop light things looked like they could break easily, although they were pretty cool though!
