Modern Industries

Talk about crossing signal companies here. International companies are okay too.

Modern Industries

Post by MapsSurfer » Tue May 15, 2018 8:17 pm

Hello! I'm a long-time fan of the Florida East Coast Railway Co. Anybody familiar with the Railway knows that the FEC was once a major buyer and operator of Modern Industries Equipment. However I've noticed that post 1980-90 the FEC, and many other railroad companies, have stopped buying and installing equipment from this Company. Does anybody know what happened to Modern Industries? Trying to find any information on the internet is difficult at best.

Pretty sure they folded and became a part of Harmon.

Yea, Harmon appears to have bought MI in the mid to late 1980s, before eventually absorbing them entirely. Harmon later became part of GE, who later took the designs for the LEDs and spun the rest of the company off to Lindsay Rail.
They/Them for me, please.

I've seen crossings with Harmon Equipment on those lines when I seen them in videos and google maps. :Tongue1: I need to get out to that FEC line anyways...
