Peerless Manufacturing Corporation
While on a road trip on Memorial Day, I happened to find a small railroad park. The park had a railroad crossing signal with lights made by Peerless Manufacturing Corporation. I've never heard of this company. Anyone know anything about this company or when they were in business? The park is in Parkersburg, IA just North of the CN (former IC) line.

Seeing the train car on a small section of track in the background, I would guess that it is there for decoration and it is not hooked up to any power.Crossingman18 wrote:quite the small pole for the lighst and crossbuck. I think thats a pole for a chain link fence.
They/Them for me, please.

Those lights look like they could use a good restoration job.

I don't know, but they're certainly not in the RR business

As old as those lights are, it could be a different company that has long since gone out of business.LARDLOGO wrote:I don't know, but they're certainly not in the RR business

Peerless could have just made the metal ring on the light, possibly not intended for use on signals, but adapted to work.

Re: Peerless Manufacturing Corporation
I just registered for this site after buying a complete signal and crossing sign manufactured by the Peerless Mfg Corp. A Google search led me here and I saw the dialog. I do not believe that these were intended for another use. It's pretty apparent that the signals were made specifically for use on the rails to include the crossing sign I have. Surely they are not that rare! The body of the mounting hardware is Griswold, too. Any ideas? These do not appear to have been molested and were supposedly replaced on a rail line in the late 1970's.
