FEC Crossings

Post by brickbuilder711 » Sat Feb 07, 2009 11:39 pm

I have gotten the ability to railfan the FEC today.

Two photos are from NW 37 Avenue in Miami, that crossing is the only one in Miami today with Safetran 80s suspension cantilevers.

One photo is from the 17th Street Crossing, that crossing was highly anonymous since 2002 in the Florida Signals page.

Mike, You might be pleasantly surprised. Look at the photo of 17th Street. Now look at this photo from Andrew Plummer TAKEN IN 2002 in the Florida "Other Signals Page"

Re: FEC Crossings Note to Mike: FLA Signals XING IDENTIFIED!

Post by Smjh1979 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:42 pm

Hate to say it, but I already knew what all those crossings were. I've been hit with a possible 900 pictures within the next few weeks that I don't have time to update those kinds of things.

I think there may be a 1-2 week off coming soon...

I could wait to upload, especially since I may hunt for a few more pics. I believe the crossings on your page are as follows;

long distance gate: SW 15 St, Fort Lauderdale
Cantilever shown: SW 17 St
Other Cantilever with 3 lanes: Sunbeam Rd, Sunbeam

I just wanted to back up a conclusion I drew months ago on the old forum after searching any potential FEC railroad crossing. I knew too.

Perhaps once I make my submission, long overdue but definitely worth the wait because of a nicer camera with 800x600 seeming "small", you may transfer the photos of 17th Street over to the page. I'll provide the DOT number and take a close up look when I have the chance to get light brands. I know Hollywood Blvd's signals and Tyler Street's signals by heart, and, by the way, 17th has an MI Mechanical bell! I have caught three trains at that crossing by the way.

Yeah. That's another task for another day...

Also, I have all of the pictures ID'd from Pomona, CA. There have been LOTS of changes out there too that I need to mention too.

One day... Someday those will be fixed.

I might be able to provide the photos come April after your recess and during mine (Spring Break).

I know I haven't done so, but probably much of it wouldn't have qualified that much (640-480 before)

My DSC-W150 is an amazing camera with >3000x>2000 pixel resolution, but I can always resize.

I might head out to Plant City on the 21st. I can probably photograph all the crossings by the interlock.

On the 8th, I might meet with a local railfan and tour CSX Lehigh Spur. Therefore I can get crossings left out from my photo queue, like 127th avenue! And you know what, the Harmon Cantilevers are still not operational! Only the Lincoln industries ones! (I never photographed the harmon ones anyway)
