Looks like it is for a planned road to a subdivided neighborhood that never came to be.

This strange crossing has Buckeye crossbuck yield shields on fence poles along with a normal buckeye crossbuck yield sign with a standard non-buckeye crossbuck.

Likely due to the gate being at an angle, and the junction box being closer to the mast was likely done to prevent the visors from getting hit by a train.
