But how do you make two and two with an ES44DC and an ES44AC?
The way how to tell a ES44AC is by the inverter cabinet, this also is on the ES44C4 and ET44AC:

For ES44DC units, they have a different inverter cabinet, see here:

IDK if this is what they call it the inverter cabinet?

Also, it usually just says so on the side of the locomotive, usually around the cab.
And with BNSF, the ES44DCs are in the 7000s, while the ES44ACs are in the upper 5000s and lower 6000s. Dash-9s and AC44CWs (along with AC44EVs, "pre-production GEVOs") also occupy the 5000s, while ES44C4s can be found in all three series (5000s, 6000s, and 7000s).

A leaser unit in the lead with many ex-SOU high-hoods trailing, it appears. Nice find! I've seen a few railfans saying that 2011 was the best time for railfanning on the NS, and I can honestly understand why.

And this nearby crossing had 8" lights too!

Sadly it now sports the standard NS look, before they adopted LEDs.

That crossing is on the site.

For some reason I thought streetview caught that crossing active but I was unable to find the view.

Yea, it was a nice old Conrail set-up. Shame it's been replaced.
