Re: Oakwood Avenue, Huntsville, AL
*originally recorded on 12-14-23*
Signal on the left: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After I ate lunch and saw that the HMCR seemed to be done for the day, I went on up to the NS Memphis District East End to see about getting a new video of this crossing. On my way, I heard NS 735 going through downtown, the dispatch talking to NS 283 (who was already at Elko, I assume), and the dispatch talking to NS 286, who was working downtown Madison. After over two hours of waiting, NS 286 was finally able to come through, and I was able to get them here with an AC44C6M leading an SD70ACe for power.
Apparently, not too long after my last video here, the signals at this crossing were given an LED upgrade. According to the local signal maintainer, this upgrade had been in the works for years, and was already on the to-do list when he got here 5-6 years ago, and was only just finally done. Thankfully, no other changes appear to have occurred here, and this crossing still retains its WCH mechanical bell, which I'm quite glad to see.
