Crossing DOT #: 177418U
TOTAL
DAILY TRAINS: 8 (AS OF 2005)
Pictures 1-8 were taken by: brenton81@msn.com.
This is the West side of the crossing. It used to have two Safetran 12"x24" signals, but construction on the road in recent years has resulted in changes to WCH 12"x20" lights and a cantilever.
The cantilever lights look like they have ball L.E.D. lights, but they are red, dotted L.E.D. lights. The median signal in picture 3 has clear L.E.D. lights.
The bell shown in picture 2 is an ASC electronic bell. It's the same gate that used to exist here when the Safetran lights were on this signal. The gate was reused for the cantilever. |

A wide view of the West crossing, plus the new signals. |
The 12"x24" shoulder signal on the East side of the crossing. It too has an ASC electronic bell on it. |
|
The 12"x24" median signal with no bell. |
An overview of the East side. The signals do have L.E.D. lights, but I wasn't told what type they were. |
The lack of rear lights is a reason why I don't like this crossing very much. UP owns the crossing, while WSOR has trackage rights.
On May 18, 2007, WEHRAR17@uwgb.edu got the crossing in action for these two Union Pacific MP15DC switchers running light out of the yard. |
||
At 8:49 AM the crossing activates again. WSOR #2054 enters the crossing, but doesn't fully cross and shoves backwards into the yard while assembling a train. |
||
The L.E.D. lights sure appear to work pretty well in my opinion. |

An active view of one of the 12"x24" signals taken by A.J. Gonfiantini on April 16, 2010. The LEDs that are shown are Safetran FLX-2000B fading LEDs. |
A return trip on June 12, 2010 shows that the ASC electronic bell on the gate behind the cantilever has changed to a Safetran Hybrid bell! |
