This is the only signalized crossing on the branch line which runs north from Mazomanie to Sauk City, Prairie du Sac, and the Badger Army Ammunition plant.

These gateless, 12" x 20" Safetran incandescent signals are in pretty good shape for being out of service for 11 years. The eastbound signal has a Safetran mechanical bell. Although the signals have no signage indicating the lack of train traffic here, the advance warning signs have EXEMPT signs under them.

The relay case.

This portion of the line was taken out of service in 1998 when the Wisconsin River bridge in Sauk City was found to be unsafe and in need of repairs that would cost too much to justify with the level of rail traffic. WSOR continued to serve one customer on the north side of the bridge from the other end of the line until summer 2009, when that business dried up as well. Now the entire line is out of service except for a few miles north of Mazomanie which are used for car storage.

With the heavy overgrowth clearly making the line impassable to trains, it is surprising this crossing has not been paved over or had the signals tampered with in any way.
