The left bell is a Safetran bell, and the right one is a RACO bell. For more information on the shapes of these bells, click here.

It hasn't been confirmed, but upon seeing a price listing for all of Safetran's products, the Safetran mechanical is not listed, and is likely discontinued.

How to tell types 1 and 2 apart? You can tell by what the top of the bell looks like. The top of the bell (the rain shield) barely shields the bell from exposure to weather. The second one covers almost 50%. From what the Safetran website used to say, this bell can ring over 200 times per minute.

The cast iron bells get pretty heavy, weighing in at 35 lbs (16 kg).

This type of bell used to be made by Safetran, Griswold, RACO, and Transport Products.
