Re-Created August 23, 2006

This soon started replacing 8" as the default type of light to be installed at newer railroad crossings. The 12" (1') dimension is exact. Also, the black disc is still the same width as the 8" lights (20"). Some new crossings still install these types of lights. I don't know when these started going up, but the earliest date I have is sometime in the 1970s.
