This museum is located on what used to be the NS West End District prior to this part of the line being torn out and abandoned many years ago.
To the west is Alley Street in Kennedy. To the east is AL 69 near Oakman.
The signal on display at this museum, which I believe may have come from the former Frisco line (the BNSF Birmingham Subdivision) a bit north of Fayette. |
|
It has an unmarked (US&S?) base. |
The lights on this signal are all US&S 8 inch lights! |
||
The crossbuck and 2 tracks sign are inverted cats-eyed ones, with the crossbuck even being split! Unfortunately, the rear pieces were replaced with non-cats-eyed parts in the standard color scheme at some point. |
|
An old crossbuck post from somewhere on the NS West End District is also on display here, complete with the old NS ENS sign on it! Unfortunately, no DOT number is posted on this, so no idea where it came from. |
||
A look at the preserved depot itself. |
An old Southern Railway maintenance limit sign is also on display here, likely from an old spur in this area. |
An old Southern Railway caboose is also preserved on a display track here, which appears to sit where the West End District ran past the depot here. |
