This crossing is located on the CSX Dothan Subdivision.
Overviews of the crossing. |
The first signal, which only has one pair of lights! |
||
It has a Safetran base. |
It also has a Safetran gate mechanism with a Safetran gate arm! |
The emergency information. |
|
The one pair of lights on this signal are Safetran 12x24 inch lights! |
This signal uses a Safetran Type 2 e-bell. |
The gate lights here are RECO incandescents! |
|
I'm honestly not entirely sure why the Seaboard System chose to install just one pair of lights for this signal, and when they did, chose to only install rear lights, with nothing facing oncoming drivers on this side!
I speculated a few theories as to why in the description of the video below, if anyone wants read it, but either way, this is certainly quite the unusual signal!
The second signal. |
It's a Modern Industries cantilever. |
The emergency information. |
|
The lights on the cantilever are all Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights! |
|||
Another Safetran base. |
Another Safetran gate mechanism, this time with an NEG gate arm. |
The rear mast lights. |
|
These lights are another pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights. |
This windguard needs to be corrected. |
This signal has another Safetran Type 2 e-bell. |
|
This signal uses RECO LED gate lights. |
The relay case. |
Looking southeast towards Parramore Road in Grimes. |
Looking northwest towards Wallace Drive in Dothan. |
This honestly has to be one of the weirdest crossings I've ever seen, if just simply for what it lacks instead of what it has.
A return trip on 7-30-19 catches the crossing in action! |
|||
CSX A724 flies through the crossing! |
||
The train quickly passes and the gates rise. |
|||
A return trip to the crossing on 3-26-22 finds an upgrade here... |
|
The first signal has had a front pair of lights added to it, with the new front lights being a pair of re-used Safetran 12x24 inch lights. |
|||
No changes to the second signal. |
