Overviews of the crossing. |
The first signal. |
It's a RACO cantilever. |
The emergency information. |
The lights on the mast are Safetran 12x20 inch lights. |
The overhead lights are also Safetran 12x20 inch lights. |
The second signal. |
It has a Modern Industries base. |
The emergency information. |
This signal has more Safetran 12x20 inch lights. |
The third signal. |
It's a Safetran cantilever. |
The emergency information, which is actually filled out on this one. |
Some old Southern DOT tags with an incorrect DOT number. |
The lights on this signal are even more Safetran 12x20 inch lights. |
These seem kinda squished together. |
A General Signals Type-2 electronic bell. |
The fourth signal. |
A Transport Products Corp. base. |
This emergency information is filled on this signal as well. |
Yet another pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights. |
The relay case. |
Track views. Picture 34 looks southeast towards Bob Jones Road. Picture 35 looks northwest towards Anderson Street. |
The flangways on the turn lanes have been filled in with dirt. |
Same for the traffic islands. |
And the flangeways going across Broad Street have been filled in with asphalt! |
A return trip to the crossing on 6-7-17 shows a few changes to the crossing! |
The Safetran cantilever's had a couple of changes. |
The emergency information sign was replaced with a new blue one! |
The bell was replaced with a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell! |
The RACO cantilever's also had the emergency information on it replaced with a new blue sign! |
Both mast signals remain unchanged, including retaining the older white emergency information signs! |
Track views. It appears that a tree has fallen across the tracks in Picture 54. |
A few box cars are being stored to the northwest of the crossing! There are more further southeast along the line. |
A return trip to the crossing on 11-14-21 finds that this crossing is now abandoned! According to the FRA, this crossing was filed as closed on January 20, 2021. |
The RACO cantilever here is already starting to fall into disrepair. The base's cover is broken and one of the mast lights has been snapped off! |
The older white ENS signs are still around, though both of the newer blue ones have been removed. |
The relay case, which has had the power indicator light removed from it. |
The tracks have been ripped-out from the crossing! The rails still remain around the crossing, though. Picture 68 also shows the current end of the line. |
This crossing used to have some 8 inch lights (probably a mix of RACO and Safetran), one pair of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights on each of the mast siganls, and a WRRS/WCH "motor bell" at it back in 2007. Sometime between then and 2014, this crossing got upgraded.
Seems like a waste considering that the crossing appears to no longer be used, though NS had shoved some box cars down past the crossing sometime between my trips in 2014 and 2017. Even more so now that the crossing has officially been closed.
Pictures 1-39 were taken on 10-11-14.
Pictures 40-55 were taken on 6-7-17.
Pictures 56-68 were taken on 11-14-21.
