The HMCR is building a second track here!
CSX put up this relay case years ago. Not sure what it's for...
One of the gates next to the crossing features an old, rusty sign that says "Railroad Gate - Open to Enter".

 

The HMCR had just bought this branch line from CSX when I took these pictures. CSX hadn't used it in years, and in that time, I believe the line was officially abandoned (at least the crossing was closed meaning I could no longer find a DOT number for it), and the HMCR still has yet to put the line back into service. This is the only crossing along the line, and the HMCR is also looking at having it removed, if they can get permission from the county, that is.

 

All pictures were taken on 3-12-18.

 

Update 9-25-20: The HMCR has since put this line into service, and this crossing has remained open. No new pictures though, as there's been no major changes here since I took the above pictures.
