A sign near the crossing marking this as a historic Birmingham Mineral Railroad site, as this branch line was originally built as the Woodstock & Blockton Railway by the L&N-owned Birmingham Mineral Railroad. However, in 1909, the Alabama Great Southern bought the controlling share of the line from the L&N. The AGS would later be taken over by the Southern Railway, whom, themselves, would later become part of the present-day Norfolk Southern in 1982. |
