This is another set of signals upgraded like Skull Valley. These signals work and sound the same. This crossing intersects at Yavapai County highways 10 and 15. Highway 10 goes to Skull Valley, and Prescott. Highway 15 goes to Hillside, Bagdad, and State Highways 96, 97, US Route 93 and Yavapai County Highway 62 (Date Creek Rd).
I got here around 10:43 AM, and end up waiting until 12:17 PM to get a train. During that time, I had bees trying to get me, but it was worth it.

The bells were replaced with GS type 1 electronic bells the last time I was here (as of January 9, 1999). The signals start to light up at 12:18:05 PM. |

The train lasts 3 minutes. Skull Valley is 7 miles away from this crossing, so I raced to Skull Valley as fast as I can. I ended up getting there about 1 minute before it arrived. |

This picture and #10 are shown as Bagdad, AZ on corbis.com. The tracks don't even go close to there. So when you see Bagdad, the correct location is Kirkland. |

Here's a rare sight. Grand Canyon #18 passes by the Kirkland crossing in 1991, heading for Phoenix. The sign you see below is NOT a "STOP ON RED SIGNAL" sign. It's an inverted "2 Tracks" sign. |

Even more views. If these pictures appear a little "hot", that's because on July 4, 2005, the temperature here was 99°F (37°C). |

Picture 35 shows that BNSF crews were out here on October 26, 2005 for some unknown reason.
Picture 36 shows a train coming from the west.
We didn't have to wait for the train to show up, it was about 1 mile away when we got here. |
