These two pictures were taken by dfhydydfdfddfhyd@aol.com sometime in 2004. The crossing was under construction due to Metrolink coming in. You can see the remains of the one old signal in both pictures with a RACO or Griswold mechanical bell.

 

You can see how the three new signals are much higher in height than the other signal, which is a bit weird for its time. Note in picture 1 how the median signal's gate is pointing the wrong way... At first I thought it was a temporary mistake, but thanks to Google Street View, the reasoning for the gates has been explained, and the crossing has dramatically changed.


The old signal with the RACO/Griswold mechanical bell was eventually replaced with a cantilever signal with traffic lights. A 5th signal was added to the median signal with the gate mechanism pointing the wrong way, as a means for a semi "4-quad" setup, with a total of 5 gates at the crossing.


There are a total of two General Signals electronic bells seen in picture 2, and on the newer cantilever signal shown in the Google Street View link above.
