This is my seventh bell in my collection. I got this bell from the
Union Pacific Railroad as they were taking it out of service on
September 26, 2024 ,and is the first ever bell I got for free.
Originally it was dead, but I was able to get the bell to work again.
If this bell looks familiar to anyone wondering, this bell came off of
the Vermont Ave railroad crossing in Independence, MO as the maintainer
was replacing it with a reused 2nd Gen WCH Mechanical Bell, and he was
nice enough to let me have this bell.

bell which looks nearly identical to my other WCH Mechanical Bell I own.

The side
of the bell.
The
door features the WCH logo on the back of the bell.
This bell does have the nut for
where the oil would normally go when oiling up the bell unlike my other
WCH Mechanical Bell which lacked the nut, but the rainshield has the
cut out for where it would normally go at.

The other
side of the bell.
This
bell's an older 1st gen model similar to my other WCH Mechanical Bell,
except this one has a 4 inch base while the other one has a 5 inch base
that can be found on MI/US&S Mechanical Bells.
The
rainshield has a part number stamped in the middle which is what most
WCH Mechanical Bells have.

The
inside of the bell.
The
internal components inside of the bell features the same setup as my
other WCH Mechanical Bell, except this one has seen more use while it
was in service.
The
paper work on the door is in good condition to my surprise.

Sadly the
serial number on this bell is hardly readable unlike my other WCH
Mechanical Bell.
The
instructions on how to perform maintenance on the bell. Like most
railroads even care about the bells unlike us bell collectors.
The
positive and negative terminals are located to the left of the
electromagnents.

The
hammer assembly which is made out of metal much like my other 1st gen
WCH Mechanical Bell.
The
armature and the screw is where you adjust the ring rate for the bell.
The
electromagnent has a label with the part number on a gold plate.
