This crossing is located on the UP Joliet Sub.

This crossing was originally a pair of gateless signals with 12"x20" incandescants and what appeared to be a WRRS M bell.  The eastern signal also had sidelights, but actually faced southwest along Route 53.  The current relay bungalow was installed before the WCH signals and controlled the gateless signals for a while before the WCH signals were installed.  Another interesting note is that the grade was concrete before, then it went to wooden, and with the concrete tie program, the grade was resurfaced again to concrete.

Between 2010 and 2015, the grade was resurfaced to concrete and blue DOT signs were added.

In mid 2017, the crossing was rehabilitated.  Exit signals were added, and the original signals were modified.  Some lights got replaced and both gates were replaced.  The nearby intersection with Route 53 received traffic lights and are synced with the crossing.
