This crossing is located on the former Lewiston Lower Road.
Page created by RailfanRXR (using HopenRXRTools 1.2.2).
This road was named after the junction that used to be here. You can
see the remains of the wye on satellite view. There used to be a
railroad here that connected this railroad to Leeds Junction all the
way up in Wales. That railroad was ripped up way back in the early
1930's but remains of the track are scattered around this area. You can
still see an old railroad trestle from the railroad. There is also a
small amout of track still in. If you look up "Crowley's Junction
Lewiston Maine" you can find some more stuff about this area.
The bush that the exempt sign is in is DEADLY. It has inch-long thorns
all over it and I got impaled several times whie trying to take picture
5.
There is also a nearby abandoned facility that was served by the
railroad. I don't know what it used to be though. I looked it up and it
said "Specialty Chemicals".
