These signals were installed in 2000 along with the lower Messer St crossing, replacing a 1953 B&M GRS install. The northern signal is a newer replacement, likely the result of a vehicle strike. Bisson Ave intersects adjacent to the crossing, and with three sets of lights (including two separate masts) protecting this side street, any driver's claims they couldn't tell a train was coming would not be bought by local authorities. Note the white strobe light atop the southern mast, which flashes when the signals are active.

This crossing is operated by the P&L (DBA Granite State Scenic Railway, formerly Hobo & Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroads), but It should be noted excursions from Meredith only operate into downtown Laconia on Sundays in the summer months, and for other special occasions and equipment moves.
