Largest Cantilever

Was wondering what the longest/largest cantilever is, after I found these 2 that are very unnecessarily large, considering they hold 3 signals each...
I'm not sure if this counts because these are actually highway sign gantries, but whatever.

Worth Seeing?

Norfolk is on my list of places in Virginia to visit to document old traffic lights.

While searching for traffic lights on street view, a found this long stretch of abandoned railroad that was turned into a streetcar track inside the city. On the part that remains abandoned, there are many ...

Re: Bell only crossings

Seeing this thread come forward again reminded me of a crossing I found in Davenport, IA recently, completely by luck:

There's two crossings with just bells (and cat-eye crossbucks!) in Alexandria on what appears ...

Advance Warning Beacons

On Shamrock Rd, there is a crossing that is right after a curve in the road.
Used to warn when of a coming train, if you are not around the curve, is a flasher set of 8" traffic signals.

You might want to turn down the volume, someone was making a lot of noise with a leaf blower or something. And ...

Re: 8" Strobe lights?

The strobe lights seem to flash rather randomly... is that how they really flash or is the camera just not picking them up consistently?
It's probably just the way the camera picks them up. The same thing happened when I took videos of strobe traffic light lenses. The camera frames don't line up ...

One-Lane Underpass for Railroad Bridge

4th St has an ancient 1-lane railroad underpass.
It is a two way street, so you have to stop and make sure no one is coming. It does have a sidewalk under it, mainly because the TransAmerican Bike Route 76 goes down 4th St.
It's looks to be made of wood and steel, with grates covering the spaces ...

C'ville Crossings

I have pictures, now, of the simple 2-lane & 2-track crossing at 2nd St. This is how most of them are, because except for 1 or 2, all of the crossings at major roads are on bridges.

The crossing stuff here consists of WCH signals, gates, & bells, with WRRS signal mounting.

Re: bullying leads to 13 year old railfans suicide

That's terrible to hear.
Cobsidering Im 13, I'm glad I'm in a position and at a school where I wouldn't be bullied for liking traffic lights. I don't know why that would be something to be bullied about anyway. I wish things like that would never happen; good people die because of the fake opinions ...

Abandoned Train at Crossing

I have never actually seen this, but found it on street view here . The trains have "No Trespassing" signs posted on them. (I call that taking the easy way out, and not removing them.) However if I actually visited these, I would definitely want to explore the insides.

How often does this happen ...

Hello

I'm migrating over from the Signal Traffic Forums, because I guess these are signals too, right?

I know a lot about traffic lights (and other road stuff), but little about railroad signals & crossing "accessories". I hope to learn more here :TUP2:

There are around 12 crossings, all with signals ...
