Wow some of those crossings have cat eye reflector signs! I've seen those pointy caps on some signal posts. Are those a thing that only older signals had?

Ah... The CSX Lineville Sub. Would love to visit the parts of the line from Lineville, AL, eastwards, especially if even half of the stuff street view shows is still there.

Went further east (onto what appears to be the CSX Fitzgerald Subdivision) and found this active crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.0751427 ... 312!8i6656
And active from the other side as well:
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.075079, ... 312!8i6656
Looking at street view, it appears that CSX has since gone through and given this line an LED upgrade, so many of the 8 inch lights between there and Manchester are more than likely long gone, sadly. Hopefully the many mechanical bells remain though.

Also, here's a classic ACL install:
https://www.google.com/maps/@31.7160195 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@31.7162304 ... 312!8i6656
Sadly, it's long gone now:
https://www.google.com/maps/@31.7160981 ... 384!8i8192

Another active crossing in Nichols, GA:
https://www.google.com/maps/@31.5172903 ... 384!8i8192

Another active crossing in Waycross:
https://www.google.com/maps/@31.240941, ... 328!8i1664
Wow some of those have cat eye signs! Those crossings like third one you linked have those pointy caps on the signal poles. Are those a thing that only old crossings had? I've seen a few here with those but most seem to have flat caps.

Yea, finials were a thing that railroads mostly used years ago. I'm guessing they were mostly dropped as it's cheaper to manufacture just a simple flat cap.
They/Them for me, please.

Proud owner of too many things.

GE B40-8W's are the best. Well, uh, maybe with some exceptions...?

I wonder how many tracks this crossing used to have...
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1534853 ... 8192?hl=en
Some classic signals there! And I count at least 4 tracks that were removed there.

Also, appears the cantilever at the next crossing down had one of the lights come open!

Two US&S Teardrop bells on the same line, on adjacent crossings! Located in LaSalle, Ontario.
https://www.instantstreetview.com/@42.2 ... .47p,0.38z
https://www.instantstreetview.com/@42.2 ... .86p,1.56z

And an odd mini-cantilever with a RACO mechanical bell! Located in Windsor, Ontario.
https://www.instantstreetview.com/@42.3 ... .52p,1.74z

A quad gated crossing with two Safetran Type-1 E-Bells! Located in Windsor, Ontario.
https://www.instantstreetview.com/@42.3 ... .27p,1.87z

Some EM gate mechanisms with another one of Canada's odd mounting brackets. Unfortunately, in 2018 they were replaced with different mechanisms, but kept the odd mounting bracket. Located in Windsor, Ontario.

https://www.instantstreetview.com/@42.2 ... 1.33p,2.9z

This lone EM gate mechanism continues to live on, at least in 2018. Located in Windsor, Ontario.

Looks like a while since any trains came through here. Most likely a phosphate spur.

Maybe some older signage here with "Look Out for the Cars":

Can someone explain what exactly is going on right here? Crossing abandonment? Upgrade? Downgrade? Or what?

Yes I am fully aware this crossing is on the site.
Proud owner of a safetran mechanical bell and Griswold mechanical bell along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.
