Crossing Signals for Street Running

We've all seen fools go around gates and otherwise act pretty stupi at crossings. Not only did the guy run the signal, he

had to pass the entire train, then drift into the bike lane to avoid the hit. He flipped me off as he went by. This is the closest I've come to catching an accident as it happens.

Wow, what a dickhead. There are three sections of true street running trackage (where the road and rail share right-of-way, with the rails embedded in the pavement like one long grade crossing/a streetcar line) within a few hours' drive of me. Two of them are on spur lines with light/slow train traffic. The third is on a mainline but is only one block long. None of them have any signalized crossings.
