This passive crossing was involved in a sticky situation Today.

The driver of the truck was reportedly headed southbound on 11th Avenue when he came upon an unarmed crossing at the train tracks.
I know they mean ungated, but that got me thinking...

maybe they should "arm" the crossings. Those electronic voice boxes would then say "Warning: Try to run the signals and I'll shoot out your tires!"

I thought the same thing when i read "unarmed". I saws this on the news and the lead locomotive on this train was a Southern Pacific, so i hope it was okay.
