Safetran type 3 High Pitch in Illinois!

Post by Smjh1979 » Wed Mar 11, 2009 6:49 pm

It is high pitched in tone like the Safetran type 3, although I can't tell if it is a GS bell. GS bells can be tuned high pitched like the video shown below:

Can anybody get out there to verify? This is in Coal City, IL. TommyBNSF was near this crossing, but missed it. It isn't on the site yet.

Wow...I like that. I'd like to know what it is; has a very European sound to it.
You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.

Wilmington IL Murphy RD Grade Crossing
You Guys Really Need To Start Reading The Credits And Intros I Put Thoes In My Videos And The Next I Have Questens About Where This Was Shot At And I Say IT IN THE INTRO/CREDITS THAT TOOK ME AN HOUR + TO MAKE

All New Bnsf Setup That I Know Of In IL Are Getting Safetran Type 3's But This Is The First High Pitched One
Sadely I Still Dont Want To Know What This New Setup Replaced
Also This Bell Was Shot From Far Distance When I Shot A GS E-Bell From AFar It Sounded Very Defferent
So Who Knows
But if it really sounds like this itll be one of my favorit e bells
Althoe That SafeTran type 1 will always be a favorit
Also It the closest thing to an teardrop e-bell but it still itsnt there it needs more tuneing

I speak my mind, if you don't like that oh well. I'll have you fill out a hurt feelings report and submit that to my office.

NS has put those bells on ALL of their crossings here in Springfield. I plan to get some pics and maybe even a video or two in April when I have some vacation time.

By the way... that signal above is a fairly new installation. Street View shows what it used to look like. You can see the base for the new signal that is shown above on Street View as well.

Damn, how did I miss that? Well I don't normally go to Wilmington that often, but I never knew about that. I wonder what was there before? And the only Safetran Type's I knew of in IL were in Rochelle and Springfield.
