Alabama Street, Courtland, AL
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of GRS 8 inch lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, and a General Signals Type-2 electronic bell.
Back in 2008, the signal with the GRS lights had a WCH mechanical bell (which I believe went to the Jackson Street crossing) and 3 pairs of GRS lights. However, the signal looks to have been hit so they had to replace one of the pairs of GRS lights. I don't know why they replaced the bell though.
They/Them for me, please.

Re: Alabama Street, Courtland, AL
And here's the new signals in action:
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE (Harmon) LEDs, a General Signals Type-3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE (Harmon) LEDs, a General Signals Type-3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
As you can see, Alabama Street has gotten quite the overhaul. A painted broken white line down the middle of the street (between the two yellow lines, at both here and Jackson Street) makes me think that Courtland's gonna be putting in medians to make the downtown area a quiet zone.

Re: Alabama Street, Courtland, AL
*originally recorded on 7-27-23*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light.

I forget if I found-out I'd missed A04 on the Madison Branch before or after catching NS 286 in Madison, but, either way, I wound-up beating NS 289 to Courtland. As such, I decided to set-up at this crossing in downtown Courtland for it, and was able to shoot it once more.
As you can see, since I last recorded this crossing, NS has replaced one of the RECO LED gate lights on the far signal with a RECO incandescent gate light. No other changes appear to have occurred here, however.

*originally recorded on 1-1-25*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.
After I caught 283 in Hillsboro, I'd heard that there was a 733 coming through behind it, which had some nice power looking at the VRF cam in Decatur. As such, I continued west a bit over to downtown Courtland to shoot it. After a bit of waiting, I was able to get my fourth train of the day: NS 733 with a pair of H2 BNSF AC44CWs pulling on the head-end and a pair of H3 BNSF SD70ACes working as the DPUs! Definitely a nice train to get on my first day of railfanning in 2025.
Apparently NS replaced the middle gate light on the closer signal with an NEG LED since I last recorded this crossing. Nothing else appears to have changed to this crossing since then, however.
