Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a General Signals Type-1 e-bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

As you can see, the signal on the right is also an older signal from the L&N railroad.
They/Them for me, please.

*originally recorded on 3-19-23*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

On March 19th, I went back out to the CSX S&NA North Subdivision, as I wanted to see if I could get the remaining four or so crossings I needed to record, of which I was able to get three (as the new signals at the fourth still aren't active yet). Not too long after I got here, I was able to get my first train of the day: CSX C052 with a pair of ES44AHs for power.

Last summer (IIRC), the closer signal here was destroyed (I believe by a car, street view shows the old signal laying on the ground after it was hit), so CSX replaced it with a new one. The new signal here is a fairly standard CSX install, though with the mast rotated 90° like the old one. Thankfully, the old L&N double-mast signal on the far side remains entirely unchanged, and still has its GS Type 1 e-bell.

*originally recorded on 8-5-23*

Eastbound signal: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Westbound signal: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an Invensys Rail gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After catching I125 at Hartselle, I went up to this crossing to record it, as another change had occurred here. After a little bit of waiting, I was able to get my second train of the day: CSX I141 with an ES44AH leading a trio of AC44CWs for power.

After I caught I025 in Athens, I chased it on down back to Hartselle as I wanted to get a video of the Main Street crossing on the side with the bell. Sadly, I025 didn't reach here until about sunset, but I was still able to record it here again. I did, however, want to return here for a better video, which I did a few days later...
Either way, after this, I went on home for the evening, as it was getting late.

Since I was last here, a couple of changes have occurred to this crossing. The first and most noticable is that apparently the bell-less signal here had been struck by another car recently, IIRC. This time around, CSX remounted the signal onto a new foundation, rotating it 90° to match their typical modern installs, and putting a concrete block in front of it, I guess to prevent further collisions. At this same time, however, the Siemens gate mechanism that had been here was replaced with a re-used Invensys Rail one, which is definitely a bit of a strange upgrade. The bell here now also rings until the gates rise, though I don't think this is intentional due to the fact there's a brief pause when the gates fully lower. Wouldn't be too surprised if the relay in the Invensys Rail gate mech here ain't activating properly when lowered, so the bell isn't shutting-off like it should. Either way, I don't mind, as it just lets people enjoy the GS Type 1 here more, lol.
