CR 70, Stevenson, AL
*originally recorded on 11-14-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After I filmed the signal at the depot museum in Stevenson, I drove around some looking for any signs of trains in the area, mostly on the CSX Chattanooga Sub. During this, I discovered that I clearly hadn't been this way in a good while, as apparently CSX had upgraded this crossing from crossbucks since my last visit. After driving around some more (and grabbing some lunch), I saw that CSX had a southbound lined through Stevenson, so I decided to hop over to this crossing to get it filmed. Here we see a southbound CSX mixed freight with a pair of YN2 AC44CWs leading a YN3 ES40DC! This was definitely a great catch, so I'm glad I got to get it.
Nothing really too much to say about this crossing. The signals here are a pair of pretty modern CSX signals that feature some Siemens gate mechs with the second sticker logo, so they are obviously not exactly brand new. Dunno when exactly they were installed, but, if I had to hazard a guess, probably sometime in 2017. For what it's worth, this is definitely a crossing only worth recording when the sun is on this side of the tracks (and preferably, this side of the signals, which it wasn't when I got this video), as there's a bunch of signage on the far side of the crossing that makes getting a good video over there a lot harder to do. Also, due to the fact that this crossing had originally been crossbucks, I hadn't yet documented it for the site, so it doesn't have a page on there yet.
They/Them for me, please.
