*originally recorded on 4-20-23*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
After I finished documenting all of the old traffic lights around Selma, I got some lunch and then go to documenting the remaining crossings on the NS 3B North District. While documenting them, I came to this one in Stanton and decided to set-up here and hope something came. Thankfully, after a little while of waiting, this NS 384 came flying through with a UP AC45CCTE (in UP's newer paint) leading a UP SD70M on the head-end, and an NS AC44C6M working as the DPU.
This crossing is a very nice one, and I'm quite glad I was able to get it. The signals here were installed by NS back in the mid-1990s, and, outside of the gate arms and the signage, are still entirely original! Both Safetran mechanical bells here sound very healthy as well, which is quite nice to see. Hopefully these 90s NS signals continue to remain original for many more years to come, especially since this is one of the last two crossings on the NS 3B North District (and the NS 3B as a whole) that still retains mechanical bells. Either way, I'm certainly glad I got to record them.
They/Them for me, please.
