On September 1st, I went down to the BNSF Birmingham Subdivision in Mississippi, as I knew (thanks to EthantheRailfanner's efforts) that there were some crossings of interest along the line there. This was the first train I caught, which came through not too long after I got here. It was an empty coal train which had an H2 BNSF AC44EV leading an H3 ES44AC on the head-end, with a pair of H3 SD70ACes and an H3 ES44AC working as the train's DPUs. Definitely a nice train to start-off the day with.
This crossing is a rather nice one, being an almost "pure" late-90s BNSF install. Really, the only changes to the signals here have been the replacement of the gate arms and most of the gate lights, though the far signal still features an older RECO incandescent gate light on it, which is nice to see.
The crossing also features a third gated signal on this side, to protect the side street here, which gives the crossing a bit more of a unique look. Nice to see another GS Type 1 in action as well, I know at least one of the ones on the Alabama portion of the line is gone now.
