Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
After I shot 40Z for the second time, I went back up to Valley Head to wait on the two northbounds. Unfortunately, NS decided to hold both in Fort Payne to wait on 355, so I wound-up not seeing anything for hours. Eventually, just after sunset, I was able to get my fifth and final train of the day as NS 355 came rolling through Valley Head with an AC44C6M leading a Dash-9 for power, elephant-style.
This crossing is yet another decent crossing, featuring yet another early-2000s NS install that's still largely original. It seems these signals must've directly replaced some crossbucks, as there are still a pair of old stop signs around this crossing. Either way, nothing really noticable seems to have changed here since the signals were installed, with really the only noteworthy change I see being that both gate arms were restriped at some point. Both do still have a bit of the original diagonal striping poking-out at their bases though, which is neat to see.
