*originally recorded on 11-26-24*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

After catching ATN Y102, I watched them work the yard in Gadsden for a while. However, when they broke for lunch, I decided to head over to the NS AGS North District for a bit before snagging lunch myself. Thankfully, NS had a train approaching, so I decided to head for this crossing on the southwest side of Attalla to record it. After a little bit of waiting, I was able to catch this NS 179 heading south out of Attalla with a lone AC44C6M pulling on the head-end and another AC44C6M working as the mid-train DPU.

This crossing, like most of the signalized crossings on the NS AGS North District, features an early-2000s NS install that's still mostly original. At some point, NS replaced both of the original gate arms here with the current ones, but, thankfully, nothing else appears to have changed to this crossing since it was installed. Always nice to get another fully incandescent gated crossing like this filmed though.
