That squar-ish building with the brown roof is a large diner. It has big windows facing the tracks, those are the UP's Villa Grove Tracks. Get a clean, open window and enjoy some food. Put your camera up to the window and never miss a train while you eat.
Cheers,
Joshua

There's a railroad crossing right next to a Burger King restaurant in Bridgewater, MA (because it was formerly a train station)
Video of the crossing in action. It's pretty much a typical MBTA railroad crossing with Safetran cantilever signals, 8" incandescent lights and the bells ringing the whole time the signals are flashing:

Re: Crossings near Restaurants
Well, I remember a crossing that got taken down in Berea Ohio and the restaurant is out of business. It is located in Berea Ohio. thats where the CSX Greenwhich Sub and the NS Chicago Line Cleveland District is and they meet up. both tracks see 60 trains per day so in total there are 120 trains passing there and there are a lot of railfans there, I mean a lot. But the restaurant was themed to trains and were next to CSX tracks that see about 50-60 trains per day and it had a whole porch to eat and see the trains next to the CSX signals. I dont have a picture tho but go on google maps or Earth and go on Streetview on Front Street. There is a bridge there now, But the crossing pictures are still there, the bridge got put up sometime in 2008. Really to bad he crossings are gone

I like Tuxedo, NY. NJT's Port Jervis Line runs right through. Even has a station there. In 2008, my father and I stopped at the Orange Top Diner. We get out of his truck. And before I open the door. I hear a GP40 at Contractor Rd and see the train moments later. It's a great place and the diner has a rating of 4.2/5. A great place to eat, watch trains and note there are no windows in the back where the track is(Just a heads up).

There are a couple of restaurants near the Church Street railroad crossing in Downtown Madison, AL:

Even though it's been closed for a while, the Box Car Cafe in Athens, AL is right on the CSX main line:

This crossing... http://goo.gl/maps/zEAnV... is just a few blocks from where I live. There a 3 eating establishments which will take care of all 3 of your day's meals.
--- Mel-O-Cream donuts for breakfast
--- Gabitoni's pizza for lunch (across the tracks in that view)... and
--- You can finish off your day at the Track Shack bar (which also serves food). I've been told the bartender will give out free drinks every once in a while when a train goes through.

Interesting signals there. Gates attached to the cantilevers, one with a ped gate. Plus, all the lights are 8 inch except the forward facing signals on each mast. They are fairly new 12 inch ones, but the back lights on each are still 8 inch.Trainzmandude2012 wrote:Dunkin Donuts:
