The Kmart near me recently closed. I miss the store.

I don't miss it at all. Why? There are three of them open in my immediate area, and the fact that they are just going downhill as a retailer.

Not really. In fact, Sears might actually do better to close all remaining Kmarts and use the money to improve the remaining Sears stores.
They/Them for me, please.

The company that owns the Kmart and Sears stores is called Sears Holdings. And despite that name, Kmart actually bought Sears, not the other way around.

I know that. But still, it'd probably be better for Sears Holdings to just sell off the Kmarts...

I remember someone saying that if Kmart never bought Sears, Kmart would already be defunct by now.

The one here in St Petersburg is still open, but I don't understand how. https://www.google.com/maps/@27.8123713 ... 6656?hl=en. Even in December (Christmas time) their parking lot looked pretty much like it does in this shot... just a smattering of cars at best. Not like when you go to Wally World. The Walmart closest to my house is always jammed packed full of cars.

Back in my hometown of Springfield, IL... this one just closed in December. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.7640081 ... 6656?hl=en. This one is still open... for now. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.8018207 ... 6656?hl=en

That's how the Kmart near me was before a close. Not many cars in the parking lot. And it was a standalone store, not part of a strip mall, so now there's just a big empty parking lot. No cars.

Sorry for bumping this topic, but I really do miss Kmart so much. There were 2 stores located in Independence with one being on Noland Rd right next to I-70, and one on US Route 24 next to MO Route 291. I've been to both stores when I was a kid. The one on Noland Rd closed up around 2016 if I remember correctly while the one on 24 was open until mid 2018 when it closed up. Recently the former Kmart on Noland Rd was torn down after homeless people were breaking into the building for shelter. And so the city had to have it torn down along with the former Payless that was connected to the store. It's rumored that apartments may go in there (section 8 unfortunately), but nothing official yet. Meanwhile the former Kmart on 24 was turned into Ronson Manufacturing Warehouse. But yeah I really do miss going there as a kid.
