but Australia has some crossings with what looks to be 8x24

Found an 8x24 WCH setup in Tasmania!

Oh, and also almost every active signal on the Tasmanian "Southern Main" is actually a WCH Mastless setup with 8x20s and (mostly) mechanical bells. I guess 2-3 container trains a day doesn't justify gates...
