Dyer, IN ; Crossing Lights for Monon Train Orders

Post by SantaFebuff »

I was just looking at some pictures at school (and am typing this from school) and I stumbled across this:

Yep, some old GRS/US&S (maybe Griswold?) crossing lights for the train order board. Now, I don't know if anyone knows much about these, but there's a few more pictures of the strange set up...

Interested? Read all about it: http://www.monon.org/location0604.html

Notice, there are no red lights, so I'd be interested in seeing it lit up... I'm doubtful it's even there still though.

Cheers,
Joshua

Your right... it doesn't appear to be there still. At least not that I can find on Google Maps.

It looks possible that in the 1st (black & white) picture... and in the 3rd picture down that the left side light may be lit. Hard to tell for sure though.

Nice find! :TUP2:

Found more pictures!
These where apparently not just for Dyer, but maybe Monon as a railroad!

Train order signals from what I've heard. Green and Red aspects.

Very cool.

Although I have to admit, that 3rd picture from the bottom, the one with green light lit, just looks wrong to me. I guess I am just programmed to always see red lights in those types of signals.
